I've been asked to sing June 15, 2015, at 4 pm in the Sacramento area (Carmichael SDA Church) for a fund-raiser for Cooper Adventist Hospital in Liberia. This is a courageous group of people who sacrifice their lives to be there for people in need.
I recently wrote a song about living in the Sierra-Nevada foothills, east of Sacramento, which I will be recording this summer (2015). Here's the first verse:
Have you ever been to the hills east of Sacramento,
Where the nights are scented with the smell of pine?
Where people live in a town they call Rescue,
Near the place where gold was found in '49.
Sometimes when I'm driving down Green valley,
I see ghost riders racing by my car,
With their mail-packs slung over their shoulders,
On horses they've been driving too far.
In the hills east of Sacramento.
(Green Valley Road can be seen from my bedroom window and is the route the Pony Express took in the middle 1800's from Carson City, NV to Sacramento, CA).
