One of the biggest challenges in recording a CD (or a batch of songs) is to add meaningful textures and sounds to each song so that they stand alone. My biggest fear is that all the songs on a CD will end up sounding alike. I am constantly listening to new and old songs to try and identify what makes them unique.
This is actually one of the most enjoyable parts of recording. It's like going to a smorgasboard that features a wide array of ingredients where you can build your own salad or meal. With both food and music, I'm looking for techniques and tricks that will season and add flavor!
